Mergers and Chinese Operations

Southwest doesn't operate in China. The plane that they fly is not designed for that long of a flight. Although they have discussed flying internationally. I think that they will expand in the future. Also, they have not merged or acquired any other airlines. Although many other airlines are merging together.

  1. It just shows how good of an organization Southwest is that they have been able to survive without mergers. The other airlines have not been able to do that. Mergers have been necessary for the other airlines survival.

  2. It would be interesting to see how well Southwest could do in China. I wonder if the Chinese could live with the "no-frills" approach; or if that would not "fly" over there....no pun intended.

  3. I find it interesting to note that no mergers have taken place. As you said, many others have and it is very impressive that Southwest has been able to survive without merging or acquiring.
